Leo N. Marino

 Leo Natale Marino, age 93, of Branford, CT born December 25, 1928 in New Haven , Ct., son of the late Francesco and Letizia Marino entered into rest on December 15, 2022 after a brief illness. He was pre deceased by his sisters Rafaela Marino, Mary Bianchi, and Vera Cappiello. Leo is survived by his loving wife Teresa DeAngelo Marino; his three children Gail (Russ) Petrucci, Janet (Anthony) Lanzetti, David (Lisa) Marino, eight beloved grandchildrenKara Barrett, Alexa Mulligan, Andrew Petrucci, Jaclyn and Jessica Lanzetti, Krista, Alyssa, and Gina Marino, and great-grandfather of Mia Barrett, brother of Ralph, Frank, and Betty Marino, and brother-in-law of Bill DeAngelo, also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.Leo attended Eaton and Columbus schools and graduated from Commercial High School and then joined the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He worked many years for Hostess. Bakery before becoming founder and President of AMI Bakery Distribution at the age of 52.Leo was an avid reader and had a passion for learning which facilitated his desire to become an author. In his later years at the young age of 89, still sharp as a tack, he published two books (The House on Greene Street and Wooster Place) which he was very proud of. Just recently Leo was featured as Person of the Week, East Haven Courier. He loved his “book tours “and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all who came. Leo was a devoted member of American Legion, Branford, Italian American Historical Society, New Haven, Amity Club, Jewish Historical Society, Sons of Italy Lodge, Branford. Leo and Teresa had 68 wonderful years of happiness which included travel, New York Broadway shows, dining, and theatre. But a major portion of that fulfillment and happiness was centered around his grandchildren. In later years as Teresa was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Leo found solace with the simplicity of family, friends, sitting on the Branford green or at the beach. He truly enjoyed life to the fullest
.Funeral from MARESCA & SONS FUNERAL HOME 592 Chapel Street. New Haven Tuesday. There are no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church at 10 a.m.   Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church  Mandated masks. Interment in St.Lawrence Cemetery will be private.In lieu of flowers please make all contributions to Alzheimer’s  Association, act.alz.org.
