Madelyn Carvalho Obituary

Madelyn Rose Carvalho, 93 of Wallingford, entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2021, surrounded by her three loving daughters, Charlene Carvalho, Nancy (Gerard) Considine, and JoAnn (Fiancé  Joseph Ambrogio) Carvalho. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Carvalho. Madelyn was born in New Haven on February 19, 1928, daughter of the late  Benjamin and Josephine (Gambardella) D’Acunto.  She worked for Winchester Repeating Arms in the export department as their bookkeeper. She and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing, camping and traveling the U.S. and Canada. She took pride in her cooking and gardening, especially her African Violets.  Madelyn was awarded the prestigious HOPE Award for her countless hours of volunteering and contribution to her church community as a member of the St. Francis Altar Society, Christmas Bazaars, Strawberry Festivals, and Annual Strawberry Delight Sunday. Madelyn continued her love for knitting, crocheting, and sewing until she was 92. Her famous one of a kind aprons were commissioned worldwide by admirers.
Her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Gerard Jr., (Katherine) and Chloe; Frank (Jacqueline) and Madelyn, Francesca, Evelyn, and Penelope Rose; Steven (Caitlin) Damon, Lilyana, Parker, Gianna and Avellina (due March 2022) will forever remember her as Grandma Cookie.
