Ana Luisa Cotto, 75, entered eternal life, on Feb. 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in New Haven.
Ana was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on August 24, 1948. A loving mother and homemaker, she was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially during the holidays. Ana was known for her famous traditional Puerto Rican pasteles recipe, which she passed down to her daughters.
A devout Christian, Ana was a member of Casa De Oracion Y Adoracion in New Haven.
She found the most joy spending quality time with her family and sharing her life experiences with her cherished grandchildren. Her latest joy was in seeing her great-grandchildren; Jayden Noel Reyes, Jayvin Jadriel Estrella, Ava-Sky Estrella, and Jerametrius Lewis Karmel. Ana was an incredibly strong willed and determined woman. Her devotion to God and her family was truly unmatched, and she set an example for everyone she came across throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alcadio Cotto Gonzalez and Palmira Gonzalez Gonzalez, of Cayey, Puerto Rico.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Cantres, wife of Aurelio Cantres, and Dezaida Rivera, wife of Luis Cordero; seven grandchildren, Ace Justus Karmel, Daisy Rivera, Ernesto Rivera, Aitza Lopez, Jacqueline Feliciano, Alvin Junior Estrella, and Bryan Cordero; four great-grandchildren; her eight siblings; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thanks to the entire medical staff of the neurosciences intensive care unit at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebratory service of Ana’s life on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 6:30pm. at Casa De Oracion Y Adoracion, 555 Columbus Ave, New Haven, Connecticut.
