Dr. Jibrin Ebun Musa was a dedicated father, beloved husband, and loyal friend who passed away at the age of 66 on April 9, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family and close friends at the end of his battle with cancer. Jibrin was a kind, gentle soul who will be remembered as a selfless giver. He migrated to America in the 70s from the Jokun dynasty in Nyita, Taraba state, Nigeria. After receiving his undergrad degree at University of Hartford, Jibrin received his Masters in Engineering from University of Bridgeport then pursued his doctoral degree at NYU.
After meeting the love of his life, Gertrude, Jibrin started a family and worked as a clinical engineer at Yale New Haven Hospital for 29 years until his retirement. He was a devoted worker and known throughout his workplace for his smiles and deep kindness. Affectionately known as Musa, he positively impacted everyone and anyone who encountered him. Jibrin enjoyed flying planes, beach walks, spreading laughter, and above all providing for his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ike and Leatu Musa, as well as other close family members. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Gertrude Chiero Okeke Musa and their five children: Simon-Edward Jibrin Jr, Akenmisire Ukwei, Pauline Chinedum-Inosire, Ogechi Leatu, and Precious Chika Musa, as well as a host of extended family members in Nigeria, close friends in America, and loved ones from all over. He will be terribly missed, but his laughter and peaceful energy will forever live on.
The viewing will be held on Friday April 19 from 8.a.m to 9:30 a.m at Maresca & Sons Funeral Home located at 592 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT.
